History Loves Character

West Side Clark Addition is located immediately west of the original town site of Mesa and was platted between 1930 and 1947 when Joseph and Mary Clark developed some of their farm property along Clark Street. Therein lies this gorgeous little historic gem that is known as “The Flannery House”.

This top to bottom remodel is not only unique but perfectly compliments the preserved historic look and charm that sets this home apart from every other home in the Valley. Lush green grass and a long brick walkway adorn the entry to the classic front porch with rustic metal accents and flower boxes. Double RV gates lead to the 1.5 car garage (it might even be bigger) and HUGE, grassy back yard with oversized back porch.

The kitchen is any chefs dream with gorgeous white cabinets, apron sink, stainless appliances and geometric backsplash. There are gorgeous REAL wood floors throughout with the exception of perfectly placed "wood look" tile in the bathroom and kitchen. Classic subway tiles in the bathroom with penny tile accents. Plenty of storage in this historic home with a large closet in the guest room and plenty of built-ins in the master. There's a convenient, larger indoor laundry and that is also an upgrade!

The neighborhood has been in the news lately. The District was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010 but, in August 2017, the Mesa City Council approved a zoning overlay that will offer homeowners property-tax breaks! Close to Sky Harbor, The Beeline, the 60, the 202 AND the 101. Within walking distance of the amenities of Downtown which include many award winning restaurants, the light rail, the Mesa Arts Center, and many other boutiques.

Rent this Historic Downtown Beauty within 1/4 mile of the Light Rail!

The origin of this spanish-style, energy efficient home dates back to 1880 when the first structure, just the living room and kitchen, was built. It wasn't until 1915 that the house was completed. Back in 1915, Woodrow Wilson was president, the Ford Model T was only a few years old, the population of Mesa, AZ was under 3,000 and 1st Avenue was a dirt road.

Privacy abounds with mature and lush trees and bushes (one is 100+ years old!), fully fenced with automatic gates to the covered parking area and even a gated front entrance. It's the convenience of a bustling Downtown with the peace of a zen-like retreat.

418 N Robson Mesa, AZ 85201 Virtual Walk Through Tour

Hello world, I'm 418 N Robson and I've been around for a long, long time. I remember the big flood of 1946, when "Pepper Square" was a Greyhound Bus Depot and when the Majestic was still a theater. A lot of me is still original however my current family loved me enough to add additional space and I went from a 900sqft home to a 2600sqft. They have been with me for over 13 years and have loved me every second I am very sad to see them go but their family has finally outgrown me. Some think that my lot location is not ideal and that it might be bothersome because University is so much bigger now than it ever used to be but there is soooo much space in between and I'm further north than most people think. My family will be the first to tell you that the location has never been an issue and you cannot hear traffic at night while you are sleeping or from the kitchen while making dinner. My enormous lot has given my family lots of space to play and entertain. My character, history, functionality and charm is ready for another and I can't wait to make new memories with a new family that will love me just as much. Is that you?

264 W. 2Nd St. Mesa, AZ 85201

This is it! That perfect blend of history, charm, and location. Mesa's very own Robson Historic District has quite the significant history! Also known as Pomeroy Place, this neighborhood was platted by Frank T. and S. Dora Pomeroy, early Mesa pioneers. West 2nd Street district, the neighborhood to the East, was home to the most prominent middle to upper class families in the early 1900's and, because of that, 2nd Street itself was often called, ''Millionaire Row''. On a street with tree lined medians (one of the very few tree lined medians in Mesa), 100 year old trees, and neighbors that have passed their homes from generation to generation lies this gem built in 1936.

The charm begins at the curb and doesn't stop! The incredible refinished "real" hardwood floors, along with original kitchen and bathroom create the perfect look and feel that you would expect from a historic community.

The oversized lot has a very cool and very old 2 story detached building that has quite a history and offers versatility. The commercial / residential zoning makes it easy to run a business out of this location or make it a great Airbnb rental or primary residence.

This is a walk-able community! The police station is at the end of the street on Robson which is sure to keep things nice and quiet in the neighborhood. On your walk you can visit the "secret garden", the "hanging tree", 3 different museums, the MAC (world-renowned arts center), the Mesa Farmers Market (every Friday from 8am to 12pm), and a variety of eclectic shops and restaurants. While you are at it, grab a ride to Tempe or Phoenix on the train but don't forget to stop at Inside the Bungalow first for an amazing cup of joe. Say hello to Betty for me!

Originally built in 1930, this 2015 new-build offers energy efficient living with the quaint charm and architectural detail of the original historic home including the refurbishing of the original China cabinet. Since it's only a few years old and built with energy efficient doors and tinted, dual pane windows with newer A/C units, with radiant barrier throughout and 2x6 wall construction, you'll be very pleased with the reasonable utility bills.

Custom wood finishes throughout include 3/4" solid oak wood flooring, Honduran Mahogany wood crown molding, wood counters and kitchen island. The gourmet kitchen features high-end cabinets, stainless steel appliances, a stainless sink, gas range, custom hardware and a very entertainment friendly, spacious kitchen island. The master bath is spacious with an over-sized shower, travertine and marble tile and a refinished & repurposed 1943 "furniture" vanity. Indoor laundry with custom, cedar closet shelving.

In Arizona we live outdoors just as much as we live indoors and this home has the perfect outdoor set-up. Whether you are watching the game or entertaining, the original & refinished 1930's kitchen sink and bar area, mounted television and over-sized, knotty pine tongue & groove covered outdoor patio with pre-piped gas line for inferred heat, offers the perfect amount of comfort and shade.

It's rare in this area to have a garage but unheard of to have a 33' drive through R.V. carport leading to the 2 car over-sized and temperature controlled garage with a 600 square foot apartment above! Perfect for a teenager, your in-laws, your home based business, your hobbies or your Airbnb rental!!! Seasonal rentals in the area are going for hundreds per night especially during Spring Training games. This truly is the perfect set up with kitchenette and bathroom.

Mesa Historic Home For Sale: 146 W. 7Th Pl., Mesa, AZ 85201

Welcome to the Evergreen Historic District. The wide, tree-lined streets, the gathering of an eclectic variety of home styles, and the quaint, tight knit community of neighbors complete the feel of times passed while incorporating the convenience and amenities that a modern family requires. This 1950 Ranch style home, built by Lester Kuck, is not a common style for this area. J.G. and Doria Allen, a co-owner of Styles and Allen Contractors, were the first owners of this wood board and batten siding mixed with painted concrete masonry units.

The steel single-hung windows and sprawling front facade with low pitch gable roof are characteristics of the ranch style. Historic glass still exists however 2 of the windows were replaced with triple pane. This home has been recently remodeled from floor to ceiling with careful attention to preserving the unique details that make it like no other with tons of historic charm, built-ins and custom touches throughout.

Crisp white plantation shutters with matching crown molding, exposed brick fireplace, and wood flooring are beautifully accompanied by bright white wainscotting, the perfect shade of neutral custom paint and accent wall panels.

Gourmet kitchen boasts gas cook stove, granite counters, bright white cabinets and subway tiles. Stainless appliances and indoor laundry are definitely an added bonus.

The family room is comfortable and spacious! The wood accented ceiling, accent wall panels and beautiful historic glass windows make this room so warm and inviting.

The large master bathroom with double sinks and huge walk in shower with glass surround is a dream! The framed mirror and perfectly laid tile perfect the look.

The bonus room, formerly a covered patio, is fully permitted and was just recently enclosed and finished. Gorgeous built-in bookcases and desks make it a great place to work from home or a homework/media nook for the kids. Tons of natural light pours into the bonus room from the double french doors that open to the extended covered patio.

This little piece of historic paradise sits on an oversized lot with access to city irrigation. The options are endless from large family gatherings to baseball games with the kids on a lot of this size. Enjoy the coming and going of the seasons under the canopy of majestic, mature citrus trees. There is even a pomegranate tree! The vibrant green grass is the perfect back drop to the rose bushes that have been there for decades. This tight knit community feel lends itself beautifully to holiday celebrations such as Halloween and the Christmas season. More than 600 children visit Evergreen during Halloween and the streets are lined with lights and decorations immediately following Thanksgiving to welcome the coming Christmas season. Welcome home!

Huge outdoor storage area under roof and behind bonus room. AC units were replaced in 2013 and 2016.

Chandelier in the formal living room (front room entrance) does not convey.

Katie Lambert And Our Historic Listing Featured on Rex's Luxury Open House Tour

Our amazing Katie Lambert is featured again. Here she walks us through a virtual tour of this wonderful Mesa Historic Home for sale.

This is it! That perfect blend of history, charm, and location with modern conveniences and amenities. Mesa's very own West 2nd Street Historic District is THE most highly sought after district of all 7 historic districts in the Downtown Mesa area. This district is well known for its age, it's the oldest historic district in Mesa, its diverse architectural styles, and its history. West 2nd Street district was home to the most prominent middle to upper class families in the early 1900's and, because of that, 2nd Street itself was often called, ''Millionaire Row''. On a street with tree lined medians (one of the very few tree lined medians in Mesa), 100 year old trees, and neighbors that have passed their homes from generation to generation lies this 1930's Period Revival/Bungalow.

Built for Hanna Richards and her family in the 1930's (although we have reason to believe it may have actually been built in the late 1920's), this property has been loved and admired for nearly 40 years by its current owners. In 2016 the remodel, with careful preservation efforts, began.

The charm begins at the curb with HUGE mature trees, fresh paint, large front porch (a main characteristic of the bungalow style), and whimsical porch swing! Enter into the spacious family room with fireplace, built-ins, preserved windows, and beautiful, durable flooring throughout. The formal dining area has decorative wainscoting, its own exit to the side yard garden area / patio and vintage dining room light fixture. It was grandmas light fixture and has been there for decades!

On the main floor there are two secondary bedrooms (with closets), full bathroom, and laundry closet. It's typical for the laundry area to be outdoors for a home of this age however it was brought into the home during the remodel as an indoor laundry is a necessity for today's busy family. The master bedroom is completely split from the guest bedrooms and boasts its own private exit to the patio, spacious closet and built-ins (so popular in that era!), AMAZING, huge walk-in shower with rain head, AND a gorgeous "furniture like" vanity with double sinks, granite, and mosaic back splash. PERFECTION!

The kitchen might very well be the cutest kitchen in all the land! Stark white subway tiles with dark grout (the best kind!), stainless gas cook top and oven, built-in microwave, gourmet faucet, vintage light fixtures, white cabinets, and a window atrium. Pull up a stool and enjoy coffee or a quick bite at the "eat-in" counter that faces nothing but the sprawling, lush, green back yard.

But wait, there's more! This home has a BASEMENT! Cute, brick accent walls, another window atrium, and storage galore!

In AZ we live outdoors from October to May and this home accommodates that very nicely! The back yard has a large covered patio with brick pavers located just beside the quaint garden area. The one-car sized storage shed helps shade the patio but also offers additional storage and could easily become a garage or guest quarters. The large lot is fully irrigated (yay for inexpensive utilities!) and backs a property that is vacant residential land and not built upon therefore protecting your view.
